Drkana. I love the word. It has multiple roots which hit all the emotional high points for the feeling I get when I describe Bane, yet has become the race itself. They grew out of Amaranth the original name used (which means immortal). It was too close to Amrit, so a reboot was needed.
They aren’t the minor creatures my Amrit wished them to be. They are just as powerful, and just as complicated as Amrit. “Prey”was a slur. Taking my readers inside alien minds can help them understand what drives their choices. That doesn’t mean they will agree with them, or even like them, but be brave enough to make the trip.
Isn’t that the problem with today’s world? We never take the time to understand another’s opinion or choice. If they don’t agree with the us, they must be canceled. Well, let me just tell you...that never works in the long run.
