First Pitches DONE!

Yes, I am still on my conference high from a few weeks ago...
I accomplished one of the hardest things in this process for me so far. I pitched my concept to three agents.
I will say this was not my intent originally. Signing up for my first conference, I thought even this was part of the educational program and not a "real" pitch. Luckily, I found out in time to prepare as not to waste my three shots for representation.
I festered about this particular part of the weekend for two solid weeks. I had my query letter critiqued at the last minute and had two whole days to make the needed changes to prepare for a verbal presentation of my novel-AMRIT.
I was so nervous I could not think straight that morning. I am generally calm when it comes to talking to strangers or presenting something I am passionate about, yet this time stage fright wasn't my normal internal struggle. My voice shook and I heard the incessiant "ums".
The agent patiently tried to create a constructive environment beforehand. I will treasure them for this kindness forever. Without it I may not have been able to do it. Once I finished, the fear evaporated looking forward to whatever critique I would receive. "Yay" or "nay" mattered little to the outcome. I had done it! The next two were a breeze.
