Setting the scene

As we get closer to Halloween, my mind races with creepy things. Dark water has always terrified me. I guess its the unforeseen lurking beneath. The dam I grew up near had a close to zero visiblity resevoir. On career day in high school, a search and rescue diver spoke. He was ready to shock and awe a group of teenagers. "We retreive bodies by bumping into them". I never liked swimming or water-skiing in that lake afterwards. It is a full blown phobia now even as a strong swimming. As a writer, I can use my phobias as foder for my fiction. Isn't that what most artists do?
