Blast From the Past

I am constantly looking for inspiration. I can see my people, places, and things in my head long before describing them to my readers. It is always nice when I stumble upon an image which connects the two.
This image is the closest I have found of the McColl plantation on the island in Amrit. The large verandas on the ground and upper floors would have been used in pre-electricity days as escapes from sweltering summer heat in the breezes off the Atlantic. Windows were often floor to ceiling in southern homes and used as egress in and out of the porches for sleeping or just cooling off.
